TThanks to social network I make wonderful discoveries. And #Girlboss was one of the discoveries I made. This book was absolutely everywhere on social network back then. It was like everyone I followed had this book. And when the Netflix show of the same name came out, everybody was talking about Girlboss. At this time, I still had not read the book but I wanted to watch the show first. To be honest, even though I loved the story behind it, I hated the show! It was kind of boring and the main character was unbearable… But as I loved the story, I wanted to give a try to the book. So I ordered it on Amazon wishing that it will be better than the show.
When I finally got the book I read it really quickly! I couldn’t stop myself as the story was really interesting and I loved the way it was written. Also the book was well offered illustrated with some nice illustrations and pictures of Sophia Amoruso. Oh I totally forgot to talk about her! If you do not know her, she is the author of #Girlboss and the story behind it it’s her story. Trust me she has a really fun, crazy and interesting story! That’s why I did not get bored while reading the book. She tell a lot about her past life and how she got there. This book is mostly autobiographical but she also give nice advices to the readers. Once you finished her book you’re motivated! It can be really helpful if you’re an entrepreneur like me but even if you’re not it can be interesting. I don’t want to say much about the book because I don’t want to spoil you. But I wanted to share the 5 things I learned from #Girlboss hoping that it’ll make you want to read it.
Your school career does not define you
I don’t know if you know this but I gave up school in high school. It was at the end of my second year, there was only one year left but I could not do end it. I was depressed even suicidal and health was really bad. There was some weeks where I couldn’t be standing. I missed a lot of lessons and my school did not understand the fact that I was sick. Even though I had medical proof most of the time. That is mostly why I couldn’t continue my schooling. At first I felt shameful and like failure but with the time I learned to accept it.
While I was reading #Girlboss I learned that Sophia also quit school in high school. I was surprised! When you look at her today she has two business, a Netflix show, books and her own fashion brand. She is impressive! Also her journey is inspiring for those who quit school early or anyone else in general. Okay we can’t all be a Sophia Amoruso, even though it’s not impossible. But she is the proof that we can win at life even if you quit school or/and you’re not graduated. You just need courage, motivation, desire and a little bit of intelligence of course.
Patience is your greatest friend
Aren’t you also the one who want things to come quickly? I am. And I hate when I have to wait for something. I want things to come quickly and easily at me! But deep down I know that it’s not how life work. For example, Sophia had so much trouble before she succeed and launched her own brand Nasty Gal. For those who really don’t know her story let me explain it to you quickly. She started by selling vintage clothes she bought at thrift shop on Ebay (it was years earlier uh). At beggining she gained nothing! But of course with time she gained money with it and she succeed. She was patient and she never gave up so the universe gave her what she deserved! Imagine what would happened if she gave up. I doubt that she will be the woman she is now!
Luck doesn’t exist
There’s too much people who think that luck come with you when you’re born or not. That there is some lucky people and some who are not. You know what? It’s not true! You can’t be born with luck. Luck doesn’t come by chance to random people. If you want to be lucky in life you have to attract luck! Otherwise, Sophia dedicated an entire chapter about luck inside #Girlboss. I will disappoint you but she give no miracle recipes. If you want to have luck in your life you have to work for it! First change your negative thoughts into positive ones. Then believe in yourself and your projects Then you have to be patient. Of course these are just few examples but there is so much things to do to attract luck.
“THOSE WHO DO NOT BELIEVE IN THEIR LUCK WILL NEVER FIND IT”
Stop caring about others
To be honest it’s really hard for me to stop caring about others. I am so afraid of what people think of me and that prevents me to do so many things unfortunately! I think it’s due to the bullies I suffered during my school years. But recently I finally decided to change. Okay I only made few steps for the moment but I feel so much better! Sophia Amoruso is the exact contrary of myself (at least is the impresion I had while reading her book). She doesn’t not care about what others thinks of herself and it is amazing! She seem to have a confidence in herself and I want to be like her. Not you? After all it’s OUR life and we are living for us first not for unknown people. Then we you own this confidence extraordinary things can happens. Life is really something else when you feel confident about yourself and you forget about what people think of yourself!
We all have key to success
We can all have the key to success! I know it sounds unreal but you have to believe! Again Sophia Amoruso is a proof that we can all succeed. She quit school at a young age, she did so many odd jobs, she worked years on a project that actually didn’t worked, … But see herself now! She did it! Okay maybe you think that she was lucky and that you can’t have the same career. First go buy #Girlboss and read it asap and then of course you can! Why not? Of course you can’t sit on a sofa and wait for success to come at you. You have to be brave, you have to try different things, you have to be patient too. But never ever give up! Believe in yourself and pursue your dreams. You know as incredible as it may sounds, life is really magic sometimes.
